The Biscuit Lofts was originally conceived as the west coast headquarters of The National Biscuit Company. In 1925 this landmark structure was designed by E.J. Eckle, the Dean of American architects and founder of the distinguished firm of Eckle and Aldrich. Constructed at the then astounding cost of $2,000,000 - this celebrated 7-story sky scraper factory became an architectural sensation.
In 2007, Linear City LLC completed an award-winning renovation of the former Nabisco Bakery into 104 authentic live/work lofts and put one of the city's finest French restaurants at the lower level. It is Los Angeles Historical-Cultural Monument #888. (Which also allows for vastly reduced property taxes under the Mills Act.)
On the exclusive 7th floor penthouse level, lies unit #713. Meticulously updated from the 2007 renovations, this two-story celebrated masterpiece is known as not only one of the finest units in the building, but in the entire famed Arts District. As you enter the front door, you instantly notice the select grade solid American Walnut flooring throughout. A custom built wine wall leads you towards the open kitchen floorplan. The vintage reclaimed wood island is the perfect offset to the modern kitchen appliances and tilework. Original brickwork accents the room as you elevate to a step-up living area. The ingenuous design gives the illusion you are in a corner unit, complete with perpendicular windows that stream light into the unit. Custom cabinetry and a Jason Miller Chandelier will illuminate endless entertainment possibilities. A stunning backdrop of the landmark downtown skyline, frames the room in elegant perpetuity.
Ascending the staircase to the second level, you encounter a quaint custom bookcase, that is worthy of any art piece. At the top of the landing lies the entire Master Bedroom level. Solid teak millwork adorns the bathroom area. Sophisticated lighting and stunning tilework accent the open floorplan the flows directly into the bedroom area. With a modern kettle stove fireplace and soaring ceilings, this is the perfect place to unwind and relax. Exit out the sliding door, and you are consumed by jetliner views of downtown, and the Los Angeles basin. One of the most stunning private rooftop decks in the Arts District cannot be denied, only enjoyed. Sunsets and evening city lights, will dance and flicker in your newfound consciousness of living the Arts District dream.
The building offers a 24/7 concierge, saline pool and showers, and a full gym. Deeded with the unit are two subterranean parking spaces and two storage units.
